2024 JCI President Kaveen Kumar Visits Taiwan’s Presidential Office Strengthening Global Leadership

2024 JCI World President Kaveen Kumar Kumaravel met with Taiwan’s President Lai Ching-te at the Presidential Office Building in Taipei on July 18, 2024, to strengthen global collaboration and youth leadership. During the meeting, President Kaveen reaffirmed JCI’s commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and highlighted the official launch of International Human Duties Day at the United Nations. President Lai expressed gratitude for JCI’s support and emphasized Taiwan’s readiness to host the 2024 JCI World Congress in Taoyuan, themed “Technological Innovation for a Prosperous and Sustainable Future.” The visit underscored JCI’s mission as a global youth leadership organization dedicated to empowering young leaders to drive innovation, sustainability, and positive change worldwide.

A momentous occasion took place for Junior Chamber International (JCI) when 2024 JCI World President Kaveen Kumar Kumaravel visited the Presidential Office Building in Taiwan to meet with President Lai Ching-te.

On the morning of July 18, 2024, President Kaveen, accompanied by the JCI 2024 World Congress COC, engaged in a meaningful dialogue with President Lai. During the meeting, President Kaveen shared JCI’s enduring mission to cultivate young leaders worldwide who are committed to making meaningful contributions to society. He reaffirmed JCI’s strong commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and proudly highlighted the inauguration of International Human Duties Day at the United Nations Headquarters in New York—a global observance celebrating the responsibilities of citizens and inspiring young leaders to fulfill these duties.

President Lai acknowledged Taiwan’s role as the host nation of the 2024 JCI World Congress, noting that the event would bring together young leaders from around the world to address key topics such as entrepreneurship and innovation, the green economy, and carbon emissions reduction. With the theme “Technological Innovation for a Prosperous and Sustainable Future,” he emphasized the importance of collaboration in tackling these global issues. President Lai expressed gratitude to JCI for its continued support of Taiwan and shared his hope that the Congress would serve as a catalyst for positive change.

President Kaveen expressed his appreciation for the support extended by the Taoyuan City Government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other government and private sector partners in promoting International Human Duties Day. He also conveyed his excitement for the 2024 JCI World Congress in Taoyuan, which was expected to draw nearly 7,000 young leaders from 120 countries. The event aimed to provide a platform for learning, dialogue, and collaboration, while also allowing participants to connect with Taiwan’s thriving business community through an international tradeshow.

Before concluding the meeting, President Kaveen extended heartfelt thanks to the Taiwanese government for its assistance in hosting the Congress and formally invited President Lai to attend the Opening Ceremony on October 29, 2024. The visit highlighted JCI’s efforts to advance global leadership and international cooperation while reinforcing Taiwan’s vital role in supporting and empowering young leaders to make a lasting impact on the world stage.
